Diverse Youth NI’s South Hub delivers a dedicated Education Enhancement Programme supporting young people aged 7 to 18 to overcome barriers in learning, strengthen their academic performance and feel empowered within the education system.
The South Hub is a welcoming, multicultural space where young people can receive tailored educational support while building confidence, friendships and a sense of belonging.
What Is the South Hub Education Enhancement Programme?
The programme offers structured academic assistance combined with youth-work principles that prioritise emotional wellbeing, support, and empowerment. Through a mix of tutoring, skill-building and creative learning, the South Hub helps young people grow both in and beyond the classroom.
We focus on:

Who the Programme Supports
The South Hub primarily works with:
Young people aged 7 to 18
Newly arrived children and teenagers adjusting to Northern Ireland’s school system
Minority ethnic and multicultural young people

Families who want safe, supportive educational spaces
The programme is open to all backgrounds. No referral is needed, and we aim to remove barriers for families as much as possible.
What Happens at the South Hub Daily After-School Sessions
Homework support and guided study in a calm, structured environment led by youth workers and trained volunteers.
Subject-Based Tutoring
Focused help in core subjects such as English, Maths, Science and GCSE-level support where needed.
Newcomer English Support
Practical language guidance to help young people understand classroom instructions, coursework and subject terminology.
Confidence and Wellbeing Support
Youth workers help young people develop self-esteem, emotional resilience and positive learning habits.
Study and Revision Skills
Lessons on time management, exam strategies, note taking and building effective study routines.
Creative and Enrichment Activities
Where appropriate, sessions include fun educational activities, reading clubs, group challenges and learning games to make education engaging.

What Happens at the South Hub Daily After-School Sessions
The Education Enhancement Programme is designed for young people who:
Are between the ages of 7 and 18
Come from migrant, ethnic minority or newcomer families
Need extra support with schoolwork or adjusting to the education system
Would benefit from one-to-one tutoring, small-group learning or a calm study environment
Need a safe, welcoming space after school
Whether a young person is struggling with English, needs help keeping up with classwork or simply needs structure and encouragement, the North Hub team is here to support them.
