The aim of this training ( Leadership in politics) for the young people from the BAME community, is to empower them with the basic knowledge of leadership skills, build their capacity, encourage them to become better versions of themselves, and to enhance their interest in politics to be able to use it as a tool for change.

OVERVIEW
Introduction:
This report details the BAME Youth Leadership Training Program, a five-week immersive initiative held across three venues (Diverse Youth Hub, Food stock and Belfast city hall), targeting young people from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities. The program aimed to equip participants with essential leadership skills, political knowledge, and valuable connections within the local political landscape.
Program Details:
The five weeks leadership training programmes encompasses the following:
Essential Leadership Skills: Workshops focused on communication, public speaking skills, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
Mentorship & Networking: Opportunities to connect with mentors (Paul Doherty, et al) and councillors who lead them through leadership training at food stock and city hall.
Policy & Advocacy: Sessions on crafting proposals, navigating the legislative process, and building coalitions.
Politics in Action: Guided tours of City Hall, panel discussions with elected officials, and observation of council meetings
Outcomes:
- Participants reported increased confidence in their leadership abilities and knowledge of the political process.
- The program fostered a sense of community and belonging amongst participants from diverse BAME backgrounds.
